University Grants

We search the Philippines for high school students that maintain a US equivalent 3.5 gpa or higher and come from destitute families without means of supporting their child's higher education. In the past, we would provide tuitional scholarships for these students. But with the Philippine national government making state universities tuition free, we have converted these scholarships into grants that may be used for books, lab costs, room and board.

The grants are paid out on a per semester basis with proof of maintaining an US equivalent 3.5 gpa or higher. Grants are typically $500 USD per semester. Once we have collected $4,000 USD to fully finance a new scholar, we reach out to our Masonic contacts in the Philippines to work with the local high schools. They will compile a list of candidates who meet the scholastic and economic hardship criteria. The candidates will be required to fill out an application form to be submitted to Black Mamba Chapter for final selection. To provide fairness to the process, we pick a different province in the Philippines for each scholarship grant as not to favor any one particular island or region.
